Where are you based?
Our factory is in Cape Town, South Africa. But, we ship our products all over South Africa and surrounding countries.
In 2025 we will begin exporting overseas.
Are you an NGO?
Burro is a private company. Our intention is to design and manufacture simple, quality tools that help people of all backgrounds, cultures and contexts with simple, quality tools that help them do their job better.
We think doing this provides social impact whether our clients are from Constantia or Khayelitsha, Northern Zambia or North America.
What makes Burro better than a wheelbarrow?
Everything. Burros are the opposite of wheelbarrows. Burros are strong, durable, and easy to use. They last more than 10 years. They can move ultra heavy loads with ease over any terrain. They make it so you can pick up 250 kg with two fingers. They can carry half a bakkie load without using petrol. All of these things wheelbarrows cannot do.
Are your tires pneumatic?
Yes. We use pneumatic tires. But, they are motorcycle-spec tires and tubes, which means they are thick, durable and puncture resistant.
We use pneumatic tires for a variety of reasons. They are cost-effective and easy to get spares. They also work better than airless tires for pushing heavy loads, because the air adds needed pressure to keep the tires firm and easy-rolling.
Are there different sizes?
Currently, there is only one size Burro. In the future additional sizes will be developed, including a smaller size.
